a pause from the polls
13/9/05 13:322.5 hours of sleep total, *and* the damn precinct phone isn't working, *and* the failsafe line isn't responding to calls from other cells. Cranky doesn't even begin to cover it.

catrinella posted her lovely Neville-fic this morning, and I've been stealing glimpses at Design for Performance: From Diaghilev to the Pet Shop Boys and a kidlit textbook in between handing out ballot applications. As feared, turnout has been pathetic (it hasn't been this dull in the precinct since the vice mayor runoff) -- the issue at hand is whether to raise the sales tax a half-percent, and the reason it's even an issue is because the additional income is to be allocated to schools and seniors. (Naturally, it's more complicated than that, but I've been overhearing a fair amount of apathy and/or antipathy -- the sense that one will get screwed either way. Sigh...))
